چکیده

The use of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) in Morocco is still limited to food and feed despite the amplified demand by local industries for imported malt. This study aims evaluate 36 elite lines major grain physicochemical parameters malt quality traits. Analysis variance, Pearson correlation, principal component analysis (PCA), hierarchical cluster (HCA) were performed. results showed significant genotypic variation among genotypes individual High broad sense heritability was obtained all traits except plump percentage, friability, germination capacity. Starch, extract, Kolbach index, area, test weight correlated significantly negatively with protein. Malt extract positively index starch, but a negative correlation soluble protein found. Based on 12 characters, 77% total explained three first components following PCA four clusters depicted based HCA. Genotypes high interest desirable levels standards identified be used as donor while designing crossing programs.Supplemental data this article available online at https://doi.org/10.1080/03610470.2021.1978036 .

Simulation of yield and quality of malting barley

A computer simulation model was developed to determine the likely response of grain yield and quality of malting barley crops to differing availability of water or nitrogen (N) and differing soil and climatic conditions. The model was validated for New Zealand conditions by comparing the results of model simulations with data from malting barley crops grown in the Manawatu. Simulations were the...

Effect of Barley yellow dwarf virus Infection on Yield and Malting Quality of Barley

Barley yellow dwarf (BYD), the most common and widespread virus disease of cereal crops worldwide (14), may be caused by any one of several Barley yellow dwarf viruses (BYDVs) of the family Luteoviridae. Transmitted by at least 25 aphid species (24), these viruses historically have been classified into two subgroups and five strains based on aphid vector specificity and efficiency (31). However...

Increasing Drought Sensitivity and Decline of Atlas Cedar (Cedrus atlantica) in the Moroccan Middle Atlas Forests

An understanding of the interactions between climate change and forest structure on tree growth are needed for decision making in forest conservation and management. In this paper, we investigated the relative contribution of tree features and stand structure on Atlas cedar (Cedrus atlantica) radial growth in forests that have experienced heavy grazing and logging in the past. Dendrochronologic...
